We’re looking for caring, dependable adults who are comfortable with basic elementary math (addition, subtraction, and early place value) and who enjoy working with young children. Consistency, patience, and a positive attitude matter far more than advanced math knowledge.

1:1 Early Math Interventionist, Grades 1–2 (Part-Time) | 2026–27 School Year

  • Add It Up SF is seeking dedicated Early Math Interventionists to join our team for the 2026–27 school year.

    If you are passionate about helping young children build confidence and success in mathematics. If you love working one-on-one with students and making a meaningful impact without the demands of lesson planning, grading, or classroom management. Then we want to work with you.

    As an Early Math Interventionist, you will work directly with students during the school day, delivering engaging, individualized instruction in a 1:1 or very small-group setting. Using Add It Up SF's structured intervention model, you will help students build confidence, strengthen mathematical thinking, and experience success in math.

    No teaching credential or prior teaching experience is required. We are looking for reliable, patient, and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children and are committed to helping students grow.

  • As an Early Math Interventionist, you will play an important role in supporting young learners during a critical stage of their mathematical development. Through regular tutoring sessions, you will build positive relationships with students and provide individualized support that helps them develop confidence and competence in mathematics.

    Many of our interventionists become trusted adults in students' educational journeys, celebrating growth, persistence, and achievement along the way.

    • Deliver individualized math intervention to students in Grades 1 and 2 using Add It Up SF's structured instructional model.

    • Conduct two 30-minute tutoring sessions per week with assigned students.

    • Build student confidence through engaging, multisensory math activities and games.

    • Monitor student progress using program assessments and data collection tools.

    • Document tutoring sessions and student growth.

    • Collaborate with school staff, program leadership, and classroom teachers.

    • Use student performance data to inform instruction and support learning goals.

    • Maintain a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.

    • Participate in training, coaching, and professional development provided by Add It Up SF.

  • Part-Time

  • $32.50 per hour

    • Day shift

    • Monday through Friday

    • During school hours

    • No evenings

    • No weekends

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite at San Francisco elementary schools.

    • Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and basic educational technology.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

    • Professional, positive, and dependable demeanor.

    • Ability to pass all required district and organizational background checks.

    • Experience working with elementary-aged children.

    • Experience in education, tutoring, youth development, after-school programs, or camps.

    • Coursework or background in education, child development, psychology, or related fields.

    • Familiarity with early mathematics instruction.
