Who We Are

  • We provide targeted, early math tutoring for first- and second-grade students who are struggling to build foundational number sense. Our model centers on consistent, high-impact tutoring that complements classroom instruction and meets students where they are.

    Students receive small-group or one-on-one sessions multiple times per week, focused on core skills such as number relationships, addition and subtraction concepts, and place value. Instruction is multisensory, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in research-based math progressions.

    We use a universal screener for number sense to identify students, monitor growth, and adjust instruction over 10-week intervention cycles. By intervening early and intensively, we aim to prevent small gaps from becoming long-term learning challenges and help students develop confidence and positive relationships with math.

  • Our organization grew out of years of experience teaching and coaching mathematics across elementary, middle, and secondary classrooms. Through this work, we saw a consistent pattern: when students receive early, targeted math support, they make meaningful gains and when they do not, gaps tend to persist and widen over time.

    We also observed a stark contrast between the level of instructional support often available in independent schools and what is accessible in many public school settings. This raised an urgent question: How can proven, high-quality math supports be adapted and delivered equitably within SFUSD?

    That question became the foundation of our work. Today, we focus on bringing structured, effective early math tutoring into public schools so that more students build strong foundations, confidence, and a belief in their ability to succeed in mathematics.
